Every year, like a holiday, we gather around our screens to see an opulent display of fashion. The theme for 2026, “Fashion is Art,” intvites a wide range of interpretations. The other day I was watching a video about rubies(my birthstone). This led me not only to question why some months have multiple birthstones, but specifically why pearl and moonstone are under Gemini? While Pearl is a mineral deposit, both are associated with the Moon, the ruler of Cancer, which would make them appropriate birthstones for July. When I was young my mom taught me the basics of sewing. I remember being so excited the first time I made something, which ultimately came apart because I used about three long single stitches and fabric glue. I was crushed when it happened, but I’d still stitch something from time to time. Modernism is an umbrella term for several identifiable styles. Modern design focuses on clean lines/aesthetic, simplicity, neutral colors, functionality, and open spaces.
