The other day I was watching a video about rubies(my birthstone). This led me not only to question why some months have multiple birthstones, but specifically why pearl and moonstone are under Gemini? While Pearl is a mineral deposit, both are associated with the Moon, the ruler of Cancer, which would make them appropriate birthstones for July. Then I decided to do some googling; I was aware the concept of birthstones had biblical origins(Aaron’s Breastplate); however, I wasn’t aware of what caused the types and numbers of stones to change. *Moonstone has an ethereal and romantic appearance, it’s said to…

When I was young my mom taught me the basics of sewing. I remember being so excited the first time I made something, which ultimately came apart because I used about three long single stitches and fabric glue. I was crushed when it happened, but I’d still stitch something from time to time. Several years later, my desire to sew was reignited when a local dance shop was closing and selling all its fabric at a deal. It was then that I began my very own fabric stash, which I have since started using. Even though the desire to sew…

Modernism is an umbrella term for several identifiable styles. Modern design focuses on clean lines/aesthetic, simplicity, neutral colors, functionality, and open spaces. Contemporary is what’s current, and ever-changing and it is currently my least favorite, featuring the same shades of green and giant marble slabs. In this age of modern contemporary designs, homes are like shells of modernism used as a means to an end of a capitalist society. The biggest misfortune of modern design is the undoing of history, style, and the lack of taste development. Destroying house styles that are no longer produced If you’re like me and…

It’s widely broadcast that, among other systems, our healthcare system should undergo immense reform. The maternal mortality rate should be enough to give pause. Yet, there seems to be no shortage of brazen opinions cast onto the lives of strangers that they hold no bearing over. Pregnancy in and of itself is a potentially life-threatening process, with many known complications. On top of the health risk, there are the astronomical costs associated with not only birthing a child but raising one as well. If people truly agreed with the obviousness of “children are the future”, you’d think they’d maximize their…

The PR for Therapy has been working overtime. Rightfully so, as it’s always been heavily stigmatized among private communities, it would benefit the most. So, how do you even start therapy with a question in mind to ask? not to mention the need to vet both professionalism and ease of communication. You can’t get help for a problem that isn’t being acknowledged by either party. At the same time, knowing you have issues is not enough to dismiss the need for aid. Yet again, affordability when it comes to therapy is not always plausible. My favorite starting point for introspection…

The house of Gucci, with roots in equestrian since 1921 and the mainstay of Kering, has hit a speed bump. The design team is currently at the helm, it’s said that Demna(the incoming designer) may have input for the September 2025 show. Demna, who came from sister brand Balenciaga, will display his first collection in March of 2026. Is this designer change enough to build back Gucci’s momentum? Ranking 18th on the Lyst Index’s Q2-25 report, down from 17th in Q1-25. Gucci is down by 25%, creating an 18% drop for Kering. Of course, the current turbulence in the economy…
