Not A Seamstress But Sewing

When I was young my mom taught me the basics of sewing. I remember being so excited the first time I made something, which ultimately came apart because I used about three long single stitches and fabric glue. I was crushed when it happened, but I’d still stitch something from time to time. Several years later, my desire to sew was reignited when a local dance shop was closing and selling all its fabric at a deal. It was then that I began my very own fabric stash, which I have since started using. Even though the desire to sew never left, the drive wasn’t there until recently. I started by making one last minute-garment that my mom helped me finish, then I made two dresses the following year that I finished myself. I have now made three unassisted garments before the year has ended, and I’m hoping to squeeze in at least one more, along with mock-ups for others. I enjoy handsewing the most, but it is incredibly time consuming, so I will probably have to give in to the use of a sewing machine. So let’s take a moment to look at what I did sew by hand this year.
