The other day I was watching a video about rubies(my birthstone). This led me not only to question why some months have multiple birthstones, but specifically why pearl and moonstone are under Gemini? While Pearl is a mineral deposit, both are associated with the Moon, the ruler of Cancer, which would make them appropriate birthstones for July.
